Almond is a tree native to the Middle East. The almonds we know, are the seeds of the fruit grown from the almond tree.
Almonds are a great source of Vitamin E, about 37% of the recommended daily intake. Vitamin E is the name for a group of fat-soluble antioxidants. They help build cell membranes in the body, protecting them from damage. Some studies also show that its consumption may reduce the risk to heart disease, cancer, and Alzheimer.
Almonds are also high in monounsaturated fat, the “good” fat, which (according to studies) helps reduce bad cholesterol levels lowering the risk of heart disease and stroke. Other foods containing monounsaturated fat include olive oil and avocado.
Overall, these small but powerful nuts are good for our brain and our hearts, they regulate our cholesterol, maintain bone health, strengthens the immune system, prevents cancer, serves as anti-inflammatory to name a few.
